The Red Tip photinia is a beautiful shrub rich in a vibrant red colour. The leaves are oval and start out red but mature into a dark green. During the spring, the photinia will produce small white flowers that bear red fruits that can last into the winter, especially in softer climates like that of the west coast of British Columbia. This plant needs to be trimmed back to produce dense growth. It is important to plant the Red Tip photinia in a sunny location with good air circulation to prevent disease. For a hedge, plant at 4 ft centers.
